As we scale globally, we need the financial structure to keep this momentum strong. We're looking for a Financial Controller ready to grow into Head of Finance. Someone who brings calm to complexity and wants to design the financial foundation of a fast-moving, AI-driven company.

Your role as Senior Financial Controller

You’ll own Saga’s day-to-day financial operations and build the systems that keep us scalable and compliant as we expand internationally. From bookkeeping to board reporting, from AP and AR to automation, you’ll make sure every number tells the truth and every process runs with precision. You’ll oversee our finance stack, currently migrating from Exact to Twinfield (Basecone), and help shape the next phase of our tooling. We’re exploring solutions like Pleo, Nmbrs, TravelPerk, and HubSpot to connect our operations end to end. You’ll work directly with Remy Verhoeven, CFO, and collaborate closely with colleagues across Product and Operations. Together, you’ll shape the finance foundation of one of Europe’s fastest-growing AI companies, combining accuracy, insight, and speed to support ambitious growth.

Your core responsibilities:

• Own bookkeeping and accounting for multiple entities

• Manage accounts receivable, invoicing, and collections

• Process accounts payable and vendor payments

• Maintain daily cash-flow visibility and forecasting

• Prepare monthly management reports and P&L statements

• Support annual closings, audits, and compliance checks

• Oversee payroll and VAT reconciliation across jurisdictions

• Optimise and automate workflows using AI-enabled finance tools

• Work closely with RS Finance, our external accountant.

What you’ll bring to Saga

You’re a builder at heart, someone who enjoys shaping systems, not just running them. You combine structure with flexibility, knowing when to dive deep and when to design the bigger picture. You thrive in fast-changing environments, take initiative without waiting for instruction, and have a strong sense of ownership, clarity, and craft.

• 4+ years of experience in finance or accounting, ideally in a scale-up environment

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Economics

• Solid grasp of accounting principles, reporting standards and multi-entity setups

• Comfortable building structure while staying close to the details

• Hands-on, pragmatic, and happy to pick up the phone to a debtor when needed

• Experience with software like Exact Online, Twinfield (Basecone)

• Fluent in English (Norwegian or Dutch a plus)

• Curious about how AI can improve accuracy and speed in finance
